We found a couple different video series of events in the World War II period. One was a survivor series of people that were there during the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Another was a collection of interviews from veterans from WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. We feel these would be interesting videos to watch as we would get the views of a primary source during the time period. This would allow the students to hear about these events from a first hand source; which would be interesting to most students.
An introduction to music from the 20th century and the events that shaped the types of music that was recorded. From stock market crashing, WWII, to Vietnam
To supplement our Anne Frank lessons, we found an opportunity to connect to The Holocaust Memorial & Education Center of Nassau County ($125). There were also several Holocaust survivor testimonies that were free to connect to. One site gave other stories from children of the holocaust who were able to survive.
We found a couple videoconferences that we would like to view. These were American Art: History Through Artists’ Eyes, and Italian Art. We were mostly dissappointed because we didn’t really find demonstrations on art, most were just presentations. The Cleveland Museum of Art had a lot of great options, and that would be something we would like to connect with in the future.
Connect to Clarian Health for nutritional health guidelines and standards. Also connect to pro football hall of fame to help customize your youth curriculum for the sport of football.
I found a video conference opportunity for elementary students to listen to a storyteller, Pat Mora, who is a leading author in children’s literature books, read books both in English and Spanish. This would be beneficial for the students who are spanish speaking, learn about their culture and customs.
Although productivity increases are the most valuable, an additional tangible effect of using video is that you start saving substantial money due to reduced travel.
